Babu Ji | 175 Avenue B, New York, NY | babujinyc.com

The wifey and I love Indian food, and when we were planning our trip to NY, I had heard some great things about Babu Ji. They are originally from Australia, and are now bringing the hipster Indian food vibe to the US.  They offer their menu a la carte, first come - first serve seating. But if they do take reservations for their Chef's Tasting Menu for $60, which is exactly what we went for.

Levant | 2448 E. Burnside St., Portland, OR | levantpdx.com

I will never turn down an Israeli brunch, so when I heard that Levant specialized in Israeli and Mediterranean meals, especially brunch, it was one of the first on my list. The menu here really covered anything and everything you'd want from an Israeli brunch, including 2 different kinds of shakshuka! I mean, come on! It was only 2 of us, but that did not stop us from trying 3 things plus "dessert".

Bollywood Theater | 2039 NE Alberta St., Portland, OR | levantpdx.com

One of our afternoons in Portland was spent on Alberta St., a street lined with different kitschy shops, bars, and restaurants. It's a great neighborhood, and they are lucky to have one of two outlets of Bollywood Theater (the other is on SE Division St.). It's a fast casual Indian place, where they serve Indian street foods, with healthy modern twists.

Food Carts on 10th and SW Alder Street | Portland, Oregon

My wife and I decided to take a last-minute weekend trip to Portland, Oregon and our first stop right off the plane were some food carts up the street from our hotel. The food carts are an awesome way for the locals to grab a tasty, and pretty cheap bite, on the go. We got to try three places for lunch: Aybla Grill, Bing Mi, and Nong's Khao Man Gai.

Pitogyros & Sunset Ammoudi Restaurant | Oia, Santorini, Greece | pitogyros.com

My wife and I had the pleasure of taking a little break in mid-2015, taking us to Paris, Cyprus and Greece. We ended up staying a couple days in the beautiful town of Santorini. The place was just gorgeous, and we got to take in all the sites straight from our seaside cliff view room. We had a couple great meals during our stay there, however, the best day we had there was lounging by our room, tanning, napping, swimming, and of course, ordering in. Being in Greece for my first time, we had to get some gyros.

Tsujita LA Artisanal Noodle Annex | 2050 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles, CA | tsujita-la.com

Now that Fall/Winter has finally arrived, and LA is now a brisk 70 degrees in the evenings, it's finally Ramen weather! I finally got to try Tsujita Annex with a friend who swore this was the best ramen in LA. Since I regularly go to Daikokuya for their Spicy Miso Ramen, we had to set things straight.

Here at Tsujita Annex, they have two options: Ramen and Tsukemen, the dipping ramen. I like my noodles in hot broth, so I went with a Ramen with Char Siu (pork) and added a seasoned soft-boiled egg.  After a 40+ min wait, we were in for a treat.

Ashland Hill | 2807 Main St., Santa Monica, CA | ashlandhill.com

I saw Ashland Hill come up on a few "best burger in LA" lists, and I just had to see what all the fuss was about. It's a cool neighborhood joint with an upscale menu and great outdoor patio in the back. The service and ordering process is a little tricky, but would the burger make it all worth while?

Mini Kabob | 313 1/2 W. Vine St., Glendale, CA

One of my all-time favorite secret finds is the gem that is Mini Kabob in Glendale, CA. This place mainly does kebob, and does it really, really well. It is a tiny place with a capacity of maybe 8 people on a good day. It is run by a really friendly Armenian married couple and their son, and you can tell that they take great pride in what they're putting out there.

Jon & Vinny's | 412 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles, CA | jonandvinnys.com

It was date night, and we were feeling like some carb overload. This was my second visit at Jon & Vinny's, and the fact that I'm coming to a restaurant a second time in a matter of 3 weeks says a lot.

Toki Underground @ Sweetlife Festival 2013 | Washington, D.C.

In honor of Throwback Thursday, I'm posting one of the best meals of my life. It was at the Sweetlife Festival in 2013, where Toki Underground had a food booth in the VIP area. They offered a few things (most of which you will never find on their restaurant ramen menu), including the best banh mi sandwich I've had in my life - corned beef tongue, pulled pork, chicken liver spread, pickled vegetables and some other goodies. However, the real star of the show was this beauty:
