I saw Ashland Hill come up on a few "best burger in LA" lists, and I just had to see what all the fuss was about. It's a cool neighborhood joint with an upscale menu and great outdoor patio in the back. The service and ordering process is a little tricky, but would the burger make it all worth while?
Eh. First, the burger comes out nothing like the way it looks on their website. The burger was cooked well, with red onion bacon jam, sharp white cheddar, paprika aioli, and watercress. The watercress is all wilted from the heat of the burger, and the red onion bacon jam really sounds better than it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a good burger, but I don't think it belongs on any "best burger" list.
