We woke up early this beautiful past Saturday morning and decided to take a drive down to Santa Barbara for the day. I love taking small road trips and discovering new places, and this time was no exception. I had been in the area before to try La Rica Taqueria (pretty disappointing meal by the way), and had heard great things about Los Agaves. So, we gave it a shot. 

The menu here is really big, and you can try everything from authentic plates of grilled meats and fish to gringo tacos and burritos. However, I am a huge fan of cioppino, and when I saw the vast variety of molcajetes (basically a mexican better version of cioppino) on the menu, I knew I had to go for it. Since I couldn't make up my mind as to whether I wanted beef, chicken or seafood, I just went for ALL OF IT - the Land & See Molcajete. This thing had everything in it and then some. It had grilled arrachera (beef), chicken, shrimp, chorizo, fish, grilled nopales (cactus) and avocado, along with some other veggies. It had spicy, deep and rich flavors coming from all sides, and it is perfectly paired with homemade blue corn tortillas. Honestly, I could have done without the meat and stuck with the seafood, but this was just the perfect way to start my day. Side note: Bring a bib and don't wear a white shirt because this thing can get messy!
